Melissa & Ruan | Engagement | Helderberg Nature Reserve | Somerset West
Moving into autumn in Cape Town is a massive game of trying to nail down the perfect weather for photo shoots and Melissa & Ruan’s engagement session was no exception. We had originally booked a date 2 weeks prior, but the weather forecast said horrible rain and clouds and wind. We decided to postpone because with engagement shoots you can be a lot pickier with the weather, so why not wait out until a beautiful day? Well… the original day came and about 30 min before the shoot time, the sun came out and it was blue skies all around!
The weather trolled us pretty hard that day, but I was confident in our next date that it would work out! It did the opposite and we had a stunning sunny, windless day throughout the engagement session… but the minute we stopped shooting and left the venue… the mist rolled in and it became incredibly cold and miserable! Within mere minutes!
Cape Town weather is certainly something to behold… but thankfully with a couple like Melissa & Ruan, they bring the sunshine! This shoot was so much fun, with full on bundu bashing in one of my favourite spots – The Helderberg Nature Reserve – to get all of these amazing photos.
It was so easy to photograph them and it really helps set the tone for the wedding day which I am now 100% convinced will be amazing! It’ll be my first wedding of the new season (2019/20) and I’m so glad it’s one I’m so excited for! YAY!
